During this unpredictable time for everyone, the purpose of The Meadowlark is to highlight good things happening in our community. This is a voluntary project, which means that contributors do not receive any remuneration. The only ‘ads’ will be for local businesses or businesses that deliver here. The newsletter will not be monetized. The Meadowlark is open to submissions from residents and business owners.

I’ve had many jobs over the years, but by far the most fulfilling was being an art teacher through my late teens and twenties while I went to school. I taught kids and teens at a private studio, elementary schools, daycares, summer camps, and more. Now a mother of a busy three-year-old, it’s been a blast to dust off my old art apron and come up with fun and creative things to do with my own child. I’m excited to share some of our favourite things you can easily do at home with your kids too!

In a “normal world”, I work in film and events. I am also a REALTOR® with CIR Realty. I caught the acting bug over 20 years ago and have mostly been involved with community theatre since then. Two years ago, I started my Tumblr blog “Journey of a Storyteller” which began as a place to reflect on my acting career. I wrote articles about plays I was in and what I was doing including my hopes and dreams for my passion. Since then I began to not limit my articles to acting and as realized that acting was just a small part of who I am. I have always enjoyed writing and my blog is one form of writing that I pursue, usually when I am procrastinating working on a bigger writing project! Joking aside, I think of my blog as a kind of online journal, a place for me to reflect on my creative pursuits and gather my thoughts about the happenings in my life. I am excited to share with the world my thoughts and also hope that it brings inspiration to any readers.

I have had the privilege of running the ATB Financial (that has served Irricana for 75 years) for the past 11 years and am still going strong. My husband Larry and I moved to Irricana in 1993, raised our son Caleb there and operated the local Bed & Breakfast for 11 years. I am also Larry’s assistant in his Real Estate business that he has operated since Dec 1999. We currently live in Beiseker and love being involved heavily in both communities. I am the secretary of the Irricana Ladies club, involved in Irricana Library’s book club, a member of the Meadowlark Trail committee, the Beiseker Chamber of Commerce and the Beiseker Centennial Project committee.

I have resided here since 2009 and have roots in a small Saskatchewan farming community. Our small town pace of life suits me well. I’m a consultant, writer, and researcher. My partner and I have four daughters, a moody cat, and an adorable puppy. On my journey thus far, I have collected degrees in psychology and social work as well as a Ph.D. in education. I have worked for 25 years in higher education, healthcare, government, and human services. I love writing blogs, watching documentaries and YouTube gardening videos, and reading self-help books. I pine for the UK — its gardens and history. My own garden is my biggest obsession right now!
